The artist is Shishkin

The coast of the Gulf of Finland near Narva attracted Shishkin with its pristine beauty. A tall flat rock, protruding a steep cliff over a narrow sandy strip of shore, captivated it with a ratio of a complex relief and an opening marine room. The Russian Museum contains several sketches for this picture.
