The state of safety before restoration:
Upon admission to restoration, the picture had wave -like deformations along the lower edge and in the corners. A figured breakthrough of the base stiffed hard in the left upper quarter. Separate breakthroughs of the canvas were located in the lower and along the left edges of the picture. The poor connection of the soil and the colorful layer with the base, the sections of the coloring of the colorful layer from the soil, as well as the extensive loss along the lower edge, most likely were the result of wetting the lower part of the picture, where the soil literally washed from under the colorful layer. Over the entire surface developed hard craquelure with raised edges. The color of the author’s painting due to yellowed varnish and dust pollution is very distorted.
Complex of the events:
To fix the emergency sections of the painting, a general strengthening of the soil and a colorful layer was carried out, the picture was taken to stretch in craft fields and reinforced with the use of the “Parks”. To eliminate deformations, the lower edge was additionally eliminated and reinforced again. These measures and pressing allowed to finally remove deformations, lay hard breaks and raised craquelure. Breakthrrhages of the foundation were found on the back. Restoration edges are brought along the perimeter of the canvas and the picture is stretched on a renovated subframe.
Restoration soil is brought into the places of loss of the colorful layer. The lacquer film with dusty layers is specified, as a result of which the author’s color is returned to painting. The loss of the colorful layer is toned. The picture is covered with a protective layer of varnish.
